An Introduction to Outdoor String Lights

Are you hosting a social event at your home, or just looking to spruce up the aesthetics of your front or backyard? If so, outdoor string lights can do wonders for your home's appearance. These lights are not just for Christmas anymore. Outdoor string lighting has become fashionable at all types of outdoor events, to decorate the atmosphere for restaurants with outdoor seating, and just to add some extra flare to anyone's yard. It's always hard to find the right kind you want at retail outlets, but you can find the best deals right here!

String lights come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. The multi-colored variety are typically labeled as holiday lights, but single colored strands, and varying pattern strands can be used at any time of year. They are becoming really popular at and outdoor parties I've attended in the past couple years. Throwing down a few tiki torches for a barbecue just doesn't cut it anymore. Outdoor String lights look more sophisticated and do a better job of decorating your event.

Places to Hang Them

You can hang string lighting anywhere, but challenge yourself to get creative with how you use these decorations. Don't just drape them over any old fence. Find a way to line your table and chairs with them, or drape them from an awning. There are plenty of items you can find in the hardware section that will aid you with any of your hanging desires. A great idea and challenge is to line a patio umbrella with outdoor string lights You will have to get creative with hiding the power cord, but it's not very difficult.

Power cords can be hidden under table cloths, underneath molding, or even buried in the ground. You can also find power cords in various colors to blend in with the surroundings. You may have to get yourself some good extensions and outdoor power surge protectors to do the job right and reach your power outlets.

What About Some Alternatives

If your looking for other kinds of lighting to spruce up the outside of your house there are plenty of options. You can go with outdoor accent lighting to beautify your surroundings. These are usually a kind of small spotlight that you can aim at a particularly nice section of your garden that you would like to highlight, or at some other outdoor piece that deserves some extra attention. Accent lights will usually come with different color and shape filters to really make a difference.

You may just want to add some outdoor security lights for extra safety. These lights are designed to keep areas well lit and make sure any criminal element will think twice before entering your property. Many security lights are motion detector activated. An extremely effective way to ward off unwanted guests.

Solar outdoor lighting has become very popular recently. These lights require no power source or extra wires or extension cords. They charge up with sunlight all day and shine for most of the night. You can even find solar powered Christmas lights in stores now.

Where to Buy Them

You should be able to find outdoor string lights in most stores year round now. You can certainly find them in outdoor/garden supply stores, as well as most large general retail stores, but it will be hard to find the kind you really want. Your best bet is to buy them right here!

I like my outdoor lighting also. I use them on my awning like you mentioned. Light adds beauty to my backyard.

Trem, although I disagree with the premise of this article, I can say that you inspire thought and challenge my view of the world. Have you ever considered opening an Outdoor String Light store? I know I have.
